Insurance & Healthcare 101

Whether you're on your parents' plan or starting your own, it's important to understand how health insurance works.

Young Adults

Insurance is a safety net for life’s unexpected events. From a serious illness to a snowboarding accident, you never know when you will be put out of work for an extended amount of time. Insurance covers hefty medical costs and can even help supplement income in cases where you are out of work for an extended period of time.

Why should I get insurance?

Far too often, young adults hold off on finding an insurance plan until it’s too late. Paying a lower insurance premium will result in larger out-of pocket-expenses, but it’s still better than having no insurance at all.

Fact:

Breaking your leg from skiing or playing sports could cost you $7,500 if you don’t have health insurance.

Where can I get help?

Ask your employer’s human resources department for more information on insurance.
