What is homelessness?

A homeless person is someone without permanent housing who may live on the streets, sleep in their vehicle, or stay in a shelter. Homelessness can cause a variety of health and psychological issues including disease, nutritional deficiencies, and the loss of ability and will to care for one’s self.

Fact:

Nevada has an estimated homeless population of 10,556.

What can I do?

If you are homeless now, emergency assistance programs in your area may help with health care, food, and housing.

If you are close to becoming homeless, there are prevention and emergency assistance programs in your area that can often help with paying rent, utilities, or bills.
